Meryl Godfrey
Hello Mary, I discovered you just a very few years ago on my return to Wales after the death of my late husband after 50 years in England. I absolutely adore all the books that I have read of yours and you are one of my favourite authors of all time. I too loved Georgette Heyer, Jane Austen, etc. Some 30 years ago whilst living in Buckinghamshire, I discovered Harrod-Eagles’ books. Although they are written as fiction I have a feeling it is a history of the Harrod family- I may be wrong here 🥴, but I think they are books that should be mandatory reading in schools as it gives a massive history of the UK and its own history pertaining to the Crimea and USA. I read as far as book 25 but couldn’t take World War II. I believe you and I are very similar age I was born in 1946 in May in a village in Cardigan but attached to the town in Carmarthenshire. My family later moved to Pontardulais then I married an RAF and moved to England. My favourite series of yours is the SURVIVORS CLUB of which my favourite book is the sixth of that series and favourite character is the second the lovely blind Vincent. My other favourites are;- Huxtable book 6 – what a wonderful TV series this would make particularly with that scene where he turns up on his black horse and takes her up in her white gown ***ooh. I have read all of the Westcotts; all of the Slightly’s; all of the Simply’s; The Ravenals. I returned to Wales, to Carmarrhenshire after the death of my lovely (second) husband and spend my time volunteering at various things being part of the SanclĂŞr Walking Group, or joining in a Choir in Tenby where we are so fortunate to have the wonderful Sarah Benbow as our teacher for us oldies; Sarah being the leader of that wonderful Ladies Choir Bella Voce. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR GIVING ME SO MANY YEARS OF ABSOLUTE BLISS in reading your books. Meryl
