I was introduced to them by a fellow regency junkie, and since then have managed to buy about 2 shelves full, all of which I've read, many several times. I love all of them, but somehow keep re-reading "A Perfect Jewel" and marveling at the self-control of the heroine and the growth of the hero throughout the novel. It was lovely how you "rescued" them in "A Christmas Bride", too. Edgar is a wonderful character! I seem to have a silliness threshold--the heroine/hero can only be too stupid a limited number of times before I give up on the book--you have never once crossed the threshold. Again, thank you, and please keep writing!

I have never read much in the Romance genre, not even sure why I happened to read your, but I am so impressed with how different each and every one of them are. The characters are very well drawn, and seem very believable and true to themselves. My only regret is that I read them willy-nilly and without thought to there being an order to the stories. Is there a way to put all the series in order--perhaps a list printed somewhere? I will have to read them all again, something I am looking forward to doing anyway, but a bit of forethought this time. Is there a new book coming soon? Perhaps with a few characters we are already fond of? Please keep writing--they're wonderful!

I picked up a copy of The Notorious Rake and I was hooked after the first page! From there I went to The Counterfeit Betrothal and then spent far more time and money than was wise, searching for every Mary Balogh book ever published. In fact, it reminded me of my behaviour more than thirty years ago when my beloved late sister introduced me to the novels of Georgette Heyer. As a Jane Austen junkie, I loved the Regency period and found Miss Heyer's world enchanting. Her death in 1974 left us with no new storyteller for that period. I only wish my sister had lived to share the joy of finding you and your books with me. She died more than 15 years ago. By the way, we are also fellow Britons...actually fellow Celts. Marion and I were born in Scotland during the war, and emigrated with our widowed mother and two older brothers to America in 1950. Reading was our escape, our refuge. We didn't have much material wealth but we had the library and a passion for the written word. I have written to your publisher asking them to consider re-publishing your earlier works (ala Jo Beverly), but have received no encouragement. Now, I scour garage sales, used books stores, and the internet, looking for your early works. In fact,I just spent a small fortune on Amazon.com on seven of your books, and console myself with the fact that I don't drink or smoke and gamble infrequently. I'll buck the trend of your fans whose favorite book is "Longing," and tell you that "Indiscreet" and "Irrestible" have become the books I return to again and again. I've read all of your books at least twice, but have lost count of the readings of these two. In fact, I hope you re-visit this group of characters. Perhaps Claude's wife will meet with an unfortunate accident or fatal illness and he can be the hero of his own, worthier, love story? He's far too good for his present spouse. Thank you again. Sincerely, Dorothy Goeddeke

The love scenes were some of my favorite ever anywhere and I have read ALOT of romantic fiction. I read it as soon as it came out so I don't remember all so clearly but the scene where they are sitting up in the tree was phenomenal. I recommended the book to some of my friends who aren't ordinarily Regency readers and it was a huge hit! I just checked the website to see if anything was coming out for the holidays but I don't see anything. When can I look for the next? I can't wait!!! Having just re-read A Summer to Remember and having too much time to think while caught in a commuting nightmare (on Halloween, no less), I thought about potential parallels between Lauren and Julian, of Tangled. Both were orphans and much of their personalities seemed to stem from being outsiders in the families in which they were raised. Lauren became perfect, but Julian kept pushing back as if to see how imperfect he could be yet still be loved. Does this analysis make any sense to you, as creator of these characters?

Could you PLEASE talk your publishers at least into these two? Thanks, and keep on writin'

Jo kindly gave me your name among others and I'm very grateful. Your books are hard to find here, there are only 4 or 5 bookshops in Rockhampton, they get 1 copy of new releases (it seems to me)and your books never turn up in my favourite 2nd hand bookstore. I have just finished the 2 'Mistress' books and I'm desperate to read A Summer to Remember (having read One Night for Love) but it is nowhere to be found. I can get it freighted from US or UK but hardcovers are prohibitive, especially with the currency exhange. Will it eventually come out in PB? Glad to read that you intend to be prolific - I hope some of them filter down here to the edge of the world. Best wishes, Robyn

I do hope that they can be reissued, perhaps with related stories printed together in one book. I quite liked ASTR and am looking forward to Angie's story - hopefully there will be many glimpses of Ferdinand, as he is quite my favorite of all of your heroes. Also, after reading ASTR (and rereading ONFL) I hope there is more in store for Joseph, Neville's cousin the Marquess. Maybe he could become entangled with Freja? It lokos like there is a lot of curiosity among your readers about her! Thanks for the many wonderful stories & hours upon hours of reading pleasure you've given us.

| Wrote... Dear Ms Balogh: We are planning to reissue Rachel Field's 1938 bestselling historical romance *All This, and Heaven Too* in a quality paperback edition, and I thought you might be the perfect person to provide it with a new foreword. In case you're unfamiliar with it, it's based on a true story: it concerns a French governess, the author's great-aunt, in the mid-nineteenth century who is in love with her employer, the Duc de Praslin; his wife, the Duchesse, fires her without a letter of recommendation; when the Duc confronts the Duchesse, who refuses to back down, he murders her in a fit of passion, then poisons himself with arsenic; the governess becomes the talk of all Paris, and the scandal travels to England and America. After clearing herself in a sensational trial, the governess moves to New York, where she presides over a Gramercy Park salon frequented by many of the most famous men and women of the day. The book became a wonderful movie in 1940, starring Bette Davis. If you're interested, I'd be happy to discuss this in further detail. Many thanks for your consideration, Yuval Taylor Editor Chicago Review Press 814 N. Franklin St. Chicago IL 60610 ph. 312/337-0747 fax 312/337-5110 P.S. This is the second in a series of historical romances we hope to reissue; the first was *Forever Amber,* by Kathleen Winsor, to which Barbara Taylor Bradford provided the foreword. | |

Kit was the perfect hero to show her that she did not have to be perfect, just herself. I do hope that you will somehow write a story for Sydnam, however. So many Regency historicals deal with heros whose war injuries are, in the end, merely an inconvenience. Sydnam was both disfigured and had to find a new place for himself in the world since he could no longer aspire to be an artist. When he tells Lauren why he is angry with Kit I wanted to cheer and cry at the same time. All I could think was what a wonderful, interesting person he was. I'm hoping that somewhere in your next series he finds his HEA.

I know you're working on the six Bedwyn books, and hope your editor allows them to be published quickly. We cannot get enough! I'm especially looking forward to Wulfric's story. But, even more than that, I'd love to see a story about Kit's brother, Syd Butler. Would you please please PLEASE consider giving Sydnam his own book? I found myself constantly drawn to him while reading "A Summer To Remember." And of all the characters in "Summer," he's the one I found myself thinking about for days afterwards, his quiet strength, his determination to lead his own life away from his family's over-protection. He'd be a marvelous hero! And I'd love to see the woman worthy of his deep regard, one who sees beyond his injuries.... Anyway, thank you so much for all your wonderful books. In the Obediant Bride, Arabella actually takes on the notion that husbands must have mistresses and that she should be happy with it, and in Gentle Conquest, a somewhat similar stance is made, with Georgina taking on the role of mistress for her husband. Any chance you could be doing some more regencies in the future? They contained such unique characters, smart dialogue, that I think is harder to project in historical novels. They also were very challenging of the morals of that period. Thanks.

I have to confess that it's Saturday night and I have spent the last half hour here on your web site after spending the previous hour and a half rereading "Irresistible" for the third or fourth time. I have saved nearly all of my copies of your books and get them out every now and then and reread them, often finding details and nuances that I missed the first time. My absolute favorite, I think, is "Silent Melody." A more unique romance I've never read. I always have tears in my eyes when I finish the last page. Your story inspires me. I checked out a book recently about writing and publishing historical fiction, but as the mother of 6-year-old and a 3-year-old boys, I figure I'll be lucky to get started when the youngest starts school. Reading your story made me realize again that having the dream is a great thing in and of itself, whether or not I ever make time for it to come true. In the meantime, please keep writing your wonderful stories. I love the interconnectedness of your characters and the fact that villans and minor characters can often show up later as heroes and heroines! How like real life that is! Tracy Stansberry

I am waiting with anticipation to see how in heaven you will make Freyja likeable! She was truly horrible, but you above anyone have the talent to bring out the goodness in almost everyone. This is not to say that you don't do villans well; I remember a couple in particular that were truly evil. Looking forward to your next books...

My best friend and I got in an argument over who would purchase it when we saw it at the local Barnes and Noble. I won. So I got to read it first and I will be able to reread it often since it will be my copy. I also became very fasinated at what Lady Muir's story is. I think her marriage was not all that it appeared to be. I think she is hiding something about her dead husband and her accident. That is the story that I can't wait to read. I even thought that she might be interested in one of the Bedwyn brothers. I can't wait to read all these stories. I hope you don't mind my thoughts on your characters. It's just my over active imagination and the wish that I could write such great books. Keep up the great work. Melanie

I have been collecting them over the years, and often reread tehm when a new book of yours has been published and you have written about a character from an older novel. I recently received a copy of A Summer to Remember and am looking forward to your new series of romances. Will you be writing about characters from your earlier novels? I particularly liked "A Clandestine Betrothal". There are many new novelists writing about the regency era but your books are outstanding in plot and characterization. Marilyn Rosenbaum

She made me vow to return it with haste and unharmed. I knew the book must be excellent. It did not disappoint. When 'Lord Kincade' numbly pondered if 'Daisy' thought he was a ventriloquist...I nearly died laughing. Those characters were delightful. You are truly mistress of the farce.
